Conditions chiropractic can often help with:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Headache & migraine prevention
  • Frozen shoulder & tennis elbow related to back and neck problems
  • Muscles and joint aches from injury, overuse or osteoarthritis.

Over our lifetime physical, emotional, and chemical stress on the body can all lead to imbalances in our nervous system. This can often manifest itself as back pain, neck pain, headaches, or other nagging aches. Chiropractors train for many years to assess the body as a whole, and get to the root cause of the imbalance. We then utilise gentle techniques to help bring the nervous system back into a state of balance, so full health can be expressed again.

Back Pain

Back pain is a very common condition, and the vast majority of it is ‘mechanical’ or ‘simple’ in nature; this often arises due to locked spinal joints and muscular tension in the associated spinal muscles. Sometimes back pain can be due to increased laxity, or instability in the pelvic joints and ligaments (common during or after pregnancy). If a spinal problem is significant enough a disc injury may occur, which can then cause associated inflammation to the nerves supplying the buttocks and legs (sciatica).

Neck Pain

Just like back pain, the vast majority of neck pain is ‘mechanical’ or ‘simple’ in nature; locked spinal joints in the neck can cause acute or chronic aches and pains in the area, often accompanied by muscular tension in the shoulders or upper back. If the imbalance is significant enough a spinal disc in the neck may become involved, which can cause associated inflammation to the nerves supplying the shoulders, arms and hands.

Headache and migraine

Research suggests that approximately 20% of all headaches arise from the neck. Locked or tender spinal joints in the neck can often cause referred pain in the base of the skull and head, or even the face and jaw. Due to this relationship, migraine sufferers often experience reduced frequency or intensity in migraine attacks when under regular chiropractic care.

Frozen shoulder and tennis elbow

Frozen shoulder and tennis elbow are commonly associated with spinal problems, because your shoulder and arm muscles receive their nerve supply from the neck and upper back. Your shoulder and arm also rely on adequate neck and back mobility to function well. Chiropractors can also assess and correct any locally involved joints and muscles of the upper limb.

Muscle and joint aches

As your spine provides nerve supply to every muscle, ligament and joint in your body (not to mention organs and glands!) spinal imbalances often contribute to other aches and pains in the body. Sometimes your chiropractor will look at nutritional factors leading to muscle aches and pains, or give necessary strengthening exercises when there has been injury or overuse.
